Mission

Samaritan’s Purse Operation Christmas Child Shoebox Ministry provides local partners around the world with shoeboxes filled with small toys, hygiene items, and school supplies as a means of reaching out to children in their own communities with the Good News of Jesus Christ.

Impact on individual lives

The shoeboxes bless children with joy, hope, and love.  Their shoebox is the first gift many children have ever received! The treasures and personal letters inside communicate that someone cares for them and give them an opportunity to experience the love of God.

When

This ongoing project runs now-Nov 2022.  National collection week is Nov 13-20, 2023.  Our Operation Christmas Child shoebox packing party (date to be announced) is a great opportunity to gather together to help assemble the shoeboxes.

Who will receive the Operation Christmas Child shoeboxes
The Operation Christmas Child team has let us know that in previous years fewer boxes have been donated for boys and girls ages 2 – 4 and so the boxes we prepare this year will be focused on this age group.

HOW CAN YOU HELP?

Come and join the fun at the
Packing Party for Operation Christmas Child!

Date tba in October or November, 2022

We need your help as we put the finishing touches on 150 shoeboxes.  Simple, personal notes are still needed for each child who will get a box. (Cards will be provided in October, 2022)

About $1,500 is needed to help pay for the shipping cost of the shoeboxes.  If you would like to contribute, please visit: unionpc.org/give or send a check to the church and make note of OCC shoebox on the memo line.

WAYS TO GIVE

Since all of the supplies for the shoeboxes have been acquired, we are asking for monetary donations to cover the supplies and shipping for the boxes.
We have two ways to donate:

  1. Make checks out to “Union Presbyterian Church” and make note on the memo line: Operation Christmas Child/OCC.

    or

  2. Donate online by clicking on the button belowIn the notes section for your donation; enter OCC (for Operation Christmas Child).

More information on Samaritan’s Purse
Samaritan’s Purse is a nondenominational evangelical Christian organization providing spiritual and physical aid to hurting people around the world. Since 1970, Samaritan’s Purse has helped meet the needs of people who are victims of war, poverty, natural disasters, disease, and famine with the purpose of sharing God’s love through His son, Jesus Christ. The organization serves the church worldwide to promote the Gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ.
What Samaritan’s Purse aims to solve
Whether due to famine, conflict, persistent poverty, or natural disasters, people around the world are brought low by circumstances and catastrophes. Fallen along the wayside of life, these families and communities are in need of both physical assistance and the love of Christ. Recognizing these needs, Samaritan’s Purse provides physical aid while sharing the Gospel of Jesus Christ and ministering to the broken.
Operation Christmas Child, the world’s largest Christmas project of its kind, makes it possible for millions of children around the world to experience God’s love through shoeboxes filled with gifts. In the hands of local churches, these simple shoebox gifts become Gospel opportunities through which children and families come to faith in Christ, churches are planted, and new believers are discipled in some of the most unreached places in the world. Since 1993, we have collected and delivered more than 168 million shoebox gifts to children in more than 160 countries. Last year, more than 10.6 million shoeboxes were collected and sent from eight countries.
