“Spiritual Warfare”

Pastor David Moore

Old Testament reading: Isaiah 54:14-17

In righteousness you will be established: Tyranny will be far from you; you will have nothing to fear. Terror will be far removed; it will not come near you. If anyone does attack you, it will not be my doing; whoever attacks you will surrender to you.

“See, it is I who created the blacksmith who fans the coals into flame and forges a weapon fit for its  work. And it is I who have created the destroyer to wreak havoc; no weapon forged against you will prevail, and you will refute every tongue that Lord, and this is their vindication from me,” declares the Lord.

Today’s theme: All believers need to be armored, as you battle against the “power of the dark world.”  To fight with the strength of the church whose power is from the Holy Spirit.

New Testament reading: Ephesians 6:10-18

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in His mighty power. Put on the full armor of God so that you can take your stand against the devil’s schemes. For our struggle is not against flesh and blood, but against the rulers, against the authorities, against the powers of this dark world and against the spiritual forces of evil in the heavenly realms. Therefore put on the full armor of God, so that when the day of evil comes, you may be able to stand your ground, and after you have done everything, to stand. Stand firm then,

with the belt of truth buckled around your waist,

with the breastplate of righteousness in place,

and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace

In addition to  all this,

take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one.

Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the spirit, which is the word of God

And pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests. With this in mind, be alert and always keep on praying for all the saints.

1 John 4:4 “The One who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world.”

John 16:33 I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have  trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.

2 Timothy 1:7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind.

This week: Think about the Armor of God and the power we have been given. All we need has been  given to us.  Stand firm in the faith reflecting God’s power in our lives.
