Help One Child holds its yearly Foster Kids Camp August 2 – 6! This has been a favorite camp for 7- to 11-year-old foster and fost-adopt children in the Help One Child network for years. The pandemic cancelled the camp in 2020, so it is a real blessing to get back into the groove. The camp is held at Pioneer Ranch at the top of the Mission Springs campus, in Felton, CA.
The camp provides the college age men and women to run the pool, zip-line, archery, water slide, mess hall, and nightly Christian skits. Help One Child provides adults and young people as cabin counselors and guides for kids grouped by ages. The camp is free to the families as Help One Child donations cover the cost. This year the Union Church Masterworks Benefit Concert on August 12thwill help run the program.
Over the last two years Help One Child has been expanding the reach of church-based services to foster families and families “at-risk” of losing children to county intervention. The ministry began serving foster children and their families in Santa Clara County in 1994.
A couple years later the non-profit Christian organization expanded services to San Mateo County. Now Help One Child manages the CarePortal web connection initiative to also serve Sonoma, Contra Costa, and Alameda Counties. Updates and yearly reports can be found on the website at HelpOneChild.org.
