Pastor David Moore
We studied Colossians with the Advent theme of Hope, Peace, and Joy. This week we continue to explore God in His act of Love for mankind and the universe. God in His coming to earth as a human demonstrates the love and justice of God in reconciling all of mankind.
New Testament reading: Colossians 1:19‐23
For God was pleased to have all His fullness dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile to Himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through His blood, shed on the cross. Once you were alienated from God and were enemies in your minds because of your evil behavior. But now He has reconciled you by Christ’s physical body through death to present you holy in His sight, without blemish and free from accusation—if you continue in your faith, established and firm, not moved from the hope held out in the gospel. This is the gospel that you have heard and that has been proclaimed to every creature under heaven, and of which I, Paul, have become a servant.
Christmas is about a real person (Christ) that will reconcile all of mankind. ~D. Moore
God’s law is to love Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and your strength. Why, we ask? God is our Creator and Maker. It is not about your rights; it is about a debt that needs to be paid. ~D. Moore
Christ takes the punishment for our sins, pays the debts through His death and resurrection. ~D. Moore
Hebrews 10:18 And where these have been forgiven, sacrifice for sin is no longer necessary. Christ’s love results in our reconciliation for us with God. ~D. Moore
Christ’s love and grace is big enough for us if we believe and put Christ at the center of our life. ~D. Moore
God holds everything together even as we face challenges in our life. This Christmas, renew your thankfulness for Christ. Allow His grace and mercy to fill your heart. This is what Christmas is about, letting the good news fill your heart and dwell on the blessings we have.
God bless you!
