Our Purpose Statement

“A vibrant growing community where families and neighbors find fulfilling and joyful lives in Christ.”

Union Presbyterian ChurchJoyfully sharing with all people in our words and our actions the good news of the gracious love of God calling them to repentance and to personal faith in Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord.

Matthew 28:19: "Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age."

In sharing the Good News of Christ we . . .

  • develop lifestyles that witness of Jesus Christ to our neighbors and friends.
  • are equipped to share our faith in Jesus with others.
  • purposely build relationships that express Christ's love with those outside the church without compromising our faith.
  • reach out to all ages: children, youth and adult.

Together seeking in spirit and in truth to love the Lord our God with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength in grateful response to His sacrificial love.

John 4:23-24: "Yet a time is coming and has now come when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. God is spirit, and his worshipers must worship in spirit and in truth."

In our worship of God we . . .

  • are instructed by Biblical truths and models for worship.
  • pursue forms of worship that convey timeless and authentic expression of our adoration for God.
  • value the power of prayer to bring God's strength and direction into our daily lives.
  • apply Biblical truths in relevant and practical ways to our daily lives.
  • expect to celebrate the presence of Christ and experience His transforming power.

Discovering in the Word of God and by the Holy Spirit wisdom for daily living, correction from harmful error, and encouragement to follow more closely the path of the Lord Jesus.

2 Timothy 3:16-17: "All Scripture is inspired by God and is useful for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, so that everyone who belongs to God may be proficient, equipped for every good work."

In growing our life in Christ we . . ."

  • value full devotion to Christ as a must for every believer.
  • desire to see those of all ages grow in Christ: children, youth and adults.
  • value the development and matching of spiritual gifts to specific ministries.
  • expect leaders to model servanthood.
  • are obedient to Biblical truths and stand against false teaching.
  • wisely use our resources to bring glory to Christ in support of ministry and mission.

Learning in our church and family relationships to share our joys and sorrows, to speak the truth in love and to forgive each other with grace to demonstrate to our neighbors our unity in Christ.

John 13:34-35: "A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another."

In our church family relationships we . . .

  • promote ways to care for each other.
  • offer accountability, encouragement and spiritual growth particularly through small groups.
  • find ways to help families build their ties to Christ and His Church.

Striving to be "salt" and "light" to our community and world; representing Jesus Christ as His ambassadors, seeking justice, working as peacemakers, offering care for need, and supporting our missionaries, all to the glory of God.

Matthew 5:13-16: "You are the salt of the earth; but if salt has lost its taste, how can its saltiness be restored? You are the light of the world. A city built on a hill cannot be hid. In the same way, let your light shine before others, so that they may see your good works and give glory to your Father in heaven."

In mission/outreach for Christ we . . .

  • support mission and missionaries in Christ throughout the world with sacrificial giving.
  • see our neighboring communities as fields of outreach through hands-on participation by our members.
